Nick Cook - Pastor

Nick Cook is the pastor of Red Rock    Cowboy Church, he is 26 years old and has been in the ministry at this church for seven years.  He started in the youth ministry with the little ones then left for four months and went to Bible College in Maui. He returned and started to minister to the junior high and high school groups.

Three years ago Nick was called to pastor the church. His vision is to reach the community around him with the gospel by pouring out to the youth in the area. The desire of Nick and the leadership is to change a generation that has very little idea where they are going, and with the help and power of God and his word to give them a future and a hope.  On top of this aspect of the vision for the youth Nick and the leadership are devoted to see the lives of all who come to this church grow in love with Jesus Christ and his word. Nick’s call is to perfect the saints to do the work of the ministry.

Nick Cook was born in Medford and was raised in southern Oregon, He grew up around horses all his life. He graduated from Crater High School in 2002.  He loves to hunt and fish, anything in the woods. Nick has a very close family who serve the lord in many ways. Nick was married to his RIB (Righteous Incredible Babe) Breanna Hay in 07 they have one son Westin and another on the way.

Roger Owen - Elder

Roger Owen is the lucky husband of Michelle for over sixteen years now. (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12)  They have two wonderful kids; Rochelle, their daughter who is thirteen and David, their son who is eleven.  Roger was born in Knoxville, Tennessee and moved to Grants Pass, Oregon when he was one and a half years old.   He grew up living in the country which helped to create his love for the outdoors.    God's creation is very awesome to Roger, and he never ceases to be amazed by it.  Roger was born to Christian parents and has gone to church all his life.  He accepted Jesus Christ into his heart at a Good News club meetin' while in grade school.

Roger Owen has been self-employed since his early twenties with most of that being in the construction industry.  The Owen family currently has a business of providing horse drawn carriage services and Dutch oven catering.  It is something that they all do as a family; they enjoy it, and take advantage of the many opportunities to share the love God has given to them, with others.  They have been told on more than one occasion that they have the best job in the world, and the Owen family agrees.  (Jeremiah 29:11)  Rochelle and David are homeschooled and are very glad that they are.   Homeschooling allows a flexible schedule.

Roger and Michelle were there when the seed for Red Rock Cowboy Church was planted.  They were able to water that seed and were blessed to see the sprout come out of the ground.  Soon it grew into a tree that continued to grow and bare fruit.  The Owen family thanks God for this church and are blessed by the people that come to RRCC.

Phil Deaville – Elder

Philip Deaville wishes he was a native Oregonian but the Lord chose his parents to live in California.  He moved to Oregon in 1965 and worked as a timber faller for many years.  Phil was saved in 1967 and his passion and love for our Lord Jesus Christ has grown in heaps and bounds.  Phil has served the Lord in a teaching ministry for many years and started teaching home bible studies in 1973.  He taught Sunday school groups for 12 years, young adults for 4 years, singles for 3 years and divorce recovery.  He has been a lay pastor and an elder for years and has been with Red Rock Cowboy Church since it’s beginning in 2003.

Phil is currently semi-retired after 12 years at Cascade Christian High School and still works part time doing maintenance at the school.  Phil enjoys bow hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and especially counseling.  He lives with his wife just out of Rogue River and they have 6 children, 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.  Phil’s vision is for Red Rock Cowboy Church to be involved in ministering to foster kids in a ranch living setting, “HOPE RANCH” giving them healing, worth, and hope for eternal life through the love of Jesus Christ.

 Mike Herzog – Elder

Michael Herzog is a native Oregonian, born and raised here in the Rogue valley. He grew up on his family’s ranch in Eagle Point where they raised livestock and hay. Most days were spent on the ranch hunting anything from frogs to ducks, or hiking the back hills after deer. He attended Eagle Point High School where he met his wife of 17+ years. He received his Bachelor of Science and Masters of Education from Southern Oregon State University. Mike has taught math, science, health, and physical education for over 10 years in the public school system. Currently Mike lives in Eagle Point with his wife and two boys and teaches at Eagle Point Middle School.

In 2006, Mike was called by the Lord into the youth Ministry at Red Rock Cowboy Church. His heart is to pour into the youth of the church. To establish these young men and woman in the Word, so to live a life devoted to the Lord and furthering His kingdom. “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. “ (James 2-4, NIV)
